It’s Tuesday, But there was enough news that I considered today, Wednesday. 😅 This is what happens:
- Trump’s orders stop almost all federal assistance.
- Democrats are “anxious” that the move is illegal.
- How Trump differs 2.0.
-
Caroline Levit gives the first White House briefing.
- Petrans of retirement, the Senate competition, wide open.
I Kate Martel With a quick summary in the morning and what is coming. Send tips and comments to [email protected]. Someone send this to you?subscription.

This is a big and large deal :
|
President TrumpThe extraordinary step of freezing almost all federal assistance programs has taken to determine whether it is in line with the Trump agenda.
There is an exception: the benefits of social security and medical care should not be affected by the next stop – nor should it be the additional nutritional assistance program.
Why this matters: There have been not much details yet, but it seems that this request, which will be effective at 5 pm, seems very wide.
Consider : The hill Brett SamuelsHe pointed out that “a senior Trump administration official confirmed that the memo does not reach the freezing of financing. They argued that if the financing agency found it did not contradict the Trump agenda, it will be disbursed without a problem.”
Democrats “are very annoyed” from this Senior Democrats are already wondering about the legitimacy of this step. The leader of the minority in the SenateChuck Shomer(dn.y.) criticized the step as “starkly [disobeying] The law “wondered how it might be temporary.
What do Democrats do about it?: Democrats in the Senate are calling for the Republicans to postpone the vote scheduled on Thursday on Thursday Russell vickt Trump’s candidate to head the administration and budget office.
^ But they don’t have enough votes to explore Vough – a Senate Budget Speaker Lindsey Graham (RS.C.) said that the committee “will continue to nominate Mr. Fion as it is decided.”
Republicans, on the other hand …: They are less interested, while welcome this step. Majority leader John Thun (Rurawi) and Republic No. 3 in the Senate, Al -Saq Tom Emmer(Minnesota), both defended this step, as Emear said that Trump was elected “to shake things.”

➤ Plus – Trump made some major changes within the army:
|
Trump has signed four new executive orders on Monday evening, which could have significant effects on the US military.
-
Sexual transfers from service in the army.
- Members of the service re-service who were forced to leave the Covid-19 vaccine states.
- “The abolition” of each office of diversity, rights and integration within the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Security.
- Allowing the development of a missile defense shield to protect the United States (Think: The Iron Dome in Israel)
|
Donald TrumpHe was only eight -day president, but one thing is really clear: it is formed to be a completely different management. For good or bad, he knows what he does this time.
In addition to freezing almost all federal assistance and making major changes to the US military:
-
He launched at least dozens of prosecutors at the Ministry of Justice.
-
He wiped 17 general inspectors, a widely illegal step.
-
He issued a sweeping pardon on January 6, including hundreds of violent rioters.
-
He stopped most of the external assistance for three months and a review order to determine whether it is in line with his “First America” agenda.
How is this different from its first administration : In 2017, policy and referee were new to Trump and the Maga crowd. Remember how Sean Spicer The main headlines of the crowd size dominate the new administration? And everything they spend on employees?
This does not happen this time. Chief of Staff of the White House Suzy WalesA narrow ship has been operated. A barrage of internal fighting, which dominated his first term, was absent from this campaign, and so far, his administration. This time, Trump and the Republicans were immediately prepared to strike “Go” to implement the “First America” agenda.
And Trump has less opposition this time: Great technology communicates with Trump. Republicans, although they were uncomfortable with some of his most controversial moves (see: January 6 amnesty), largely supported his comprehensive agenda.
Even one of the most candidates in the Council of Ministers, Higseth HouseAll Republicans, with the exception of three Republicans despite a wave of negative headlines, including the claim of sexual assault and reports of excessive drinking.
How * Feel * Republicans about all this? : The hill Alexander Bolton Reports that Republican lawmakers are scrambling to keep pace with the amazing Trump group of changes to Washington and relevant disputes. One of the Republican Senator, who asked not to be identified, said that Trump is following the “shock and awe” approach, while giving priority to executive procedures (comes with less resistance than Congress.)
Read Bolton reports on the Republican Party’s reaction: Legionships are fighting the Republican Party with repercussions of executive procedures Trump.
|
➤ Why are Democrats become increasingly concerned:
|
Hill Niall StanagReports that Democrats are concerned that Trump’s agenda has increased tyranny.
But there is not much they can do about itRepublicans control the White House, each of the Congress rooms and the Supreme Court, which has a majority 6-3 conservative.
Little, but not something The lower courts are the best hope for Democrats to prevent parts of the president’s agenda. ((Think: 22 countries led by democracy Join the lawsuits To prevent its end to the “born citizenship”.)
|
➤ Yes, but the Democrats did not move quickly:
|
Blueck Sam SteinHe pointed out that the Republicans and Democrats “run at different speeds. Dems holds a press conference in the Senate today to condemn the pardon of J6ers. This was done a week ago. It is not clear if there is a fight today to pursue power play in OMB to take over all federal grant funds.”

Senator Gary Peters(D-Mich.) This morning, he announced that he would not seek to be re-elected in 2026.
This is a big deal for DemocratsThis leaves an open seat in the main state of Michigan. It gives Republicans a great opening and Democrats is another concern.
This is very small in the terminology of the Senate Peters, 66, told Detroit News Melissa Nan Burke He is not planning to search for another office, such as the governor of Michigan. Instead, he said he is planning to spend more time with his family.
