Democrats warn of the “largest trailer in American history”
Democrats in the House of Representatives intensify their attacks on the Republican Party’s budget plan, warning that the huge spending scheme will translate into the holiest managers of Maidan in the history of the program.
The leader of the minority in the House of Representatives, Hakim Jeffrez (DN.Y.), has succeeded the Democrats unanimously opposing the budget decision when the Republican party leaders bring it to the ground, which may occur early on Tuesday evening.
Medicaid is not the only part of the budget of the Republican Party that inspires the opposition of Democrats. But as accuracy approaches the floor, the issue that they often refer to, warns that Republicans have designs to reduce medicaid to help compensate for the cost of expanding the tax cuts of the wealthy people.
“The Republican budget is the largest discount in Medicaid in American history,” Jeffrez said on Tuesday from the steps of Capitol. “Children will destroy. Families will destroy. People with disabilities will be destroyed. The elderly will be destroyed. Hospitals will be destroyed. The elderly care will be destroyed.”
“So let me be clear: Democrats in the House of Representatives will not vote for this reckless republican budget. Not one.”
According to the Republican budget decision, the Energy and Trade Committee, which supervises Medicaid, was assigned to determine at least $ 880 billion in the programs under its competence. These cuts are designed to beat conservative budget hawks, who want to curb spending on deficit – a task that made more strict through the proposed extension of the 2017 tax discounts of President Trump, which would reduce federal revenues by billions of dollars.
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La) defended this ruling, on the pretext that savings will significantly come from waste disposal, fraud and abuse under Medicaid, with the expansion of work requirements for some adults who receive advantages.
On Tuesday, the majority leader in Parliament Steve Scales (R-La) provided another defense, noting that the text of the budget does not mention Medicaid at all.
“There is no medicaid in this law,” said Scalise, waving a copy of the decision for reporters. “There are no discounts in this law.”
Democrats do not buy this argument, saying that the Energy and Trade Committee cannot reach a mark of $ 880 billion without significant discounts on Medicaid.
Representative Brendan Boyle (D-PA) was distinguished by Scalise’s “incredibly deceptive”.
“if [the] “We don’t want to cut medicaid. Instead, we will literally cut off everything else that we can – 100 percent” – this only makes you in the middle of the road to 880 billion dollars. “
“Therefore, they must – as a minimum – reduce hundreds of billions of dollars from Medicaid.”
In recent weeks, the Medicaid case has been a tremendous headache of Johnson and other Republican Party leaders, who have sought to ensure mild Republicans, be careful that the budget plan will not erode benefits for people in the program. Some of these moderates have huge groups of medicaid in their areas, and threatened to vote against the budget without firm assurance that these voters will not lose health coverage.
However, recently, this equipment appears to be ready to support the budget plan, if only to give Republican Party leaders the space to fill the party’s spending plan in detail, which will be voted at at a later time.
The barrier is now a handful of conservatives, who pledge to oppose this measure about the disability spending concerns.
At 11 hours, development led to the timing of voting on the budget bill in question. While the leaders of the Republican Party were scheduled to put the draft law on the ground on Tuesday, Johnson told the correspondents in the morning that the vote could be delayed while Republican leaders seek to beat acceptance.
“There may be a vote tonight, it may not be,” he told reporters in the Capitol. “Stay followers.”
