Defense Health Organization’s chief was forced to retire suddenly: Report
Reuters said the health system for several million service members and their dependents, the Defense Health Organization (DHA) chief was suddenly forced to retire on Friday, Reuters reported.
Army Lt. General Telita Crossland, one of the senior black women officers in the army, who served in her role since January 2021, “starts her retirement” on Friday morning, said Stephen Ferra, Defense Assistant Secretary of Health.
The statement did not argue for Crossland’s rapid departure, but the two officials told Reuters that he had to retire and was informed that no reason was given.
The move came just a week after President Trump’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman and the first female chief of the Navy, including six senior military officers dismissed.
“I would like to thank Crosland for the nation, the military health system and its dedication for the military drugs for the last 32 years,” Ferra said in the statement.
The first black woman, who led the Defense Health Organization, graduated from the US Military Academy West Point and entered the army as a medical corps officer in the 5th. Before his last role, the high -appointed officer served as the Deputy Surgeon General of the Army, according to the biography of his official Defense Department.
Under Defense Secretary Pete Hegsath, the Pentagon is about to explore the rapid diversity, equity and inclusion (DII) initiative, without proof that they have created a wreck from unit solidarity.
“The single dumb sentence in military history is ‘our diversity is our power,'” Hegastath said a Town Hall in the Pentagon earlier this month. “From our point of view, why would you get rid of something like Dei? Because from our point of view, it has worked for the purpose of dividing the force as opposed to combining the forces. “
The Trump administration’s defense officials have also ordered to commemorate the commemoration of the celebration of the Black History Month and Women’s History Month, and instructed the Pentagon to remove all DII content from its digital footprint.
Everything comes as the military is ready to get out of all the Hijra services members.
In Place, Crossland, Defense Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary David Smith will serve as the acting director of DHA DHA and the department will work through the nomination process for its replacement.
“Dr. Smith is a steady hand with decades of experience in and out of uniforms in the military health system. I tell everyone to support Dr. Smith and the whole DHA team because we provide our system the most severe battle power to stabilize and strengthen our system, “Ferra said.
