The high record in anti -Semitism is a warning to all Americans

Amazing numbers – realistic.

In 2024, the Anti -Defamation Association recorded 9,354 incidents of anti -smiling, sabotage and attacks in the United States, which is the highest total in our 46 -year -old history in tracking this data, with an average of more than 25 accidents per day.

For the fourth year in a row, the count broke the previous records, and for the first time, the majority of these incidents were linked to Israel or Zionism-often in the form of hideous celebrations of Hamas terrorist attack on October 7, and called for violence and anti-centuries-centuries-century that are re-generating a new generation.

Let’s be clear: this is not a work as usual. This is a turning point – for the Jewish society and the American association we are proud of.

More than 18 months after the October 7 massacre – an event that broke the lives of thousands in Israel and brought an unimaginable loss to many – the wave of anti -Semitism did not recede. What could have been seen as a temporary violent reaction in the aftermath of that horrific day, instead it had been hardening into a constant attack.

We are not facing a wave of anti -Semitism only. We are seeing a hate wave rising alongside a broader assault on societal standards.

Just a few days ago, we witnessed the premeditated burning attack on the home of the governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro (D) on the first night of Easter. Shapiro, a Jewish public employee, was apparently targeted in making political intimidation because of his support for Israel.

Let’s be clear: this was not just an attack on a leader, party or one society. It was an attack on the ideals that suffer from pluralism – a blatant reminder that hatred against the Jews rarely remains for one group.

We see these attacks not only in isolated accidents but are reflected in the broader facts and deep anxiety throughout the country. The data in this year audit tells the story – but the audit is more than just a balance. It is a snapshot of the deeper direction: when hateful ideologies move from margins to the main current and are reflected in all types of accidents, the effect on Jewish life is deep, and indicates the broader collapse of the health of our society.

The incidents of campus hostile increased by 84 percent in the past year, and they are the narrowest increase that we have ever recorded in colleges and universities. The swednx appeared – the signing of a chilling is from white superiority – in more than a third of the anti -Semitic sabotage. Although some voices claim to be the hero of justice, we have seen non -apologies for terrorism and open calls for the destruction of Jews and Jewish life.

This is not an activity. It is the hatred that enters the main current. We will not be silent in the face of this danger – not on the campus, not in our societies, and not in our policy.

Jewish Americans and all Americans deserve to live frankly and proudly without fear or apology. We cannot be afraid of fanatics, nor can we back down from the public arena. On the contrary, we must stand longer, and I was to a shoulder with other societies under a threat, knowing that our future is intertwined.

We need leaders to call anti -Semitism in all its forms – without any water, without delay. We need allies to connect weapons to the Jewish community – not only when the main headlines require that, but every day, in daily work to fight hatred.

This is the time of moral clarity. For courage. For solidarity. It is normal to feel fear when the threats are very real, and the risk is very high.

But we should not let fear paralyze us. We must find our courage and behavior. The future of our free and clean society depends on that.
