Trump is likely to discuss the eleventh trade soon: bessent
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessin said on Sunday that President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping will talk about trade “soon” amid commercial tensions between the two countries.
Besent told CBS that he expected to see talks between the two leaders “soon”, which will include discussions on critical metals.
“I am sure that when President Trump and the party leader have a call, this will be settled,” he said. “But the fact that they block some of the products they agreed to launch during our agreement – may be a defect in the Chinese system, and it may be intended.”
When the host, Margaret Brennan, asked if there was a specific date for the discussion, Pisent replied: “I think we will see something soon, Margaret.”
The director of the National Economic Council has hinted Kevin Haysit that the two leaders may take place discussions as soon as possible this week.
“President Trump will have a wonderful conversation about commercial negotiations this week with President Xi, and this is our expectation,” Haysit said in “This week”.
Their remarks come days after Bessin said that the talks with China on trade are “somewhat suspended”.
Last week, a federal court ruled that the emergency law did not grant Trump unilateral authority to impose a tariff on almost every country, which led to a “liberation day” tariff for the president and previous orders that impose a tariff on Canada, Mexico and China.
The Federal Appeal Court filed the first ruling after a day, although a separate federal court prevented the majority of the president’s tariff on the same day.
