Trump administration to import eggs from Türkiye in South Korea
The Trump administration is importing millions of eggs from Türkiye and South Korea, other countries are likely to contribute to the next weeks, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said Friday.
“Now, we have imported Turkey and South Korea eggs. Just yesterday, I talked to a few more countries that will soon start importing.
“We’re talking in a few million eggs in the short term. So is not trivial, but it is enough to help to continue to reduce prices now,” he said. “And then when our chicken population is re-populated and we get a complete egg laying industry again, in a few months, we then return to our internal eggs and move those eggs to the shelf”
The Trump administration is working to put egg prices, which in recent months the sky touches the sky in anxiety about the spread of Avian flu. Anxiety about the virus forced farmers to slaughter millions of chickens, causing egg deficiency and prices to rise.
A projection of the agriculture department published last month indicates that egg prices could rise by 5 percent in 2021.
